Let me know any methods that you've figured out! Official PS3 controllers a real nuisance! Then all you'd need to do is use x360ce, assuming the method you used doesn't emulate an Xbox controller already. If MotionInJoy isn't for you, there are various other methods to get it to work.

~ There are other ways to get drivers for an official PS3 controller as well. You may need to set it to an Xbox 'profile' or some such thing in MotionInJoy, but I wouldn't mess with it unless it doesn't work right off. There may be a tweak or two needed in MotionInJoy to get it to work. Make sure to plug in your controller before launching the game. No need for x360ce in this case! Just get MotionInJoy working with your controller and it should work by default with Castle Crashers or any other Xbox controller only game ( IE Super Meat Boy* ).ģ. Not only does it make installing drivers rather painless ( as painless as it can be, at least ) it also has a nice configuration utility, along with Xbox controller emulation right within it. While there are various ways to go about getting drivers for an official PS3 controller I'd suggest MotionInJoy.

You definitely can't plug it in and expect to use it, unlike some other controllers that automatically install drivers for you ( Plug n' Play ).Ģ.

While you always need to install drivers for any controller on the computer, for some reason the official PS3 controllers are a tad tricky. If you have an official PS3 controller you will need to manually install drivers for it. This is normal and can be modified in the x360ce options when installing and whatnot.ĭisclaimer: I didn't create MotionInJoy. There may be a tone played when loading the game. When playing your newly modified game, just plug in the controller FIRST and load the game SECOND. It's just a program that writes some new library files for the game. Now, this is called an emulator, but it's not continually running or anything. Sure, it may be a little annoying to remember what button is what when it tells you 'Press Y!' on the screen, but at least the controller should be working with the xinput calls the game is requesting from a peripheal device. This little executable program, when placed into the root folder of Castle Crashers ( or any Xbox controller game, IE Super Meat Boy* ) will make your controller recognized as an Xbox controller. If it still doesn't work, contact me and I'll try to help to the best of my abilities.įor those of you who can't seem to get their controllers to work with this game, might I suggest this: I tried to make it all as concise and clear as possible so that people only need to read certain sections, but you never know. If you've followed my instructions and you can't seem to get it to work, please read my instructions again. I did not create this program, I'm merely spreading the word about it and helping with troubleshooting. This pertains to PS3 controllers or any generic controllers that are not working. This does not pertain to those controllers.

I hope someone in the Steam Community has had this problem and can help me out, because I'm at my wit's end.NOTE: Multiple sources have claimed that generic controllers will be supported out of the box. I've been trying to get this to work for 6 hours now, well past midnight. The issue is that the game doesn't register the left trigger and right trigger which is why I'm trying to use X360ce 3.1.4.1. The left and right triggers are still used to pan the camera instead of the right analog stick, among other problems where B is to attack. I followed these instructions to the letter and when I start the game, the settings of X360ce 3.1.4.1 don't register. When you're done, copy "xinput1_3.dll" and "x360ce.ini" to the game folder (.\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction\src\system), start the game and make sure you go under "controls" and enable controller. To test out if everything is working, open up XInputText.exe and try it out. Open up x360e.ini with a text editor (notepad will do just fine), and right after "PAD1" find the line that reads "Native=0". "to get that xbox360 wired controller of yours working, go to:Ĭlick on "xinputemu" and download the latest version of x360ce vibmod (currently 3.1.4.1).Įxtract the content to the desktop and open the newly created folder. I've been trying to use X360ce 3.1.4.1 and followed these instructions I found:
